I’m running to be re-elected for Jerome Township Trustee to protect our community’s safety, heritage and well-being with controlled respectful growth

Four years ago, I decided to stop complaining about things and start trying to change things and ran for Trustee. It’s been a challenging four years and I feel like I’ve accomplished lots, but still have more unfinished business and that’s why I am running again.

Our township has grown rapidly over the past 10 years and the surge of residential growth has adversely impacted our roadways, our schools, the environment and community support services.

Roadways need to be upgraded to handle more traffic and keep everyone safe.

Our schools are overcrowded, with some students having classrooms in trailers.

Woodlands and wetlands are being bulldozed to build new houses.

As 41-year residents of this township with a small farm, my wife Mary and I have 3 sons that went to local JA schools and participated in sports and scouts, so we were very involved with community events.  We now have 2 grandsons in JA’s elementary school that are also actively involved with sports.

I worked at Scotts for 22 years, managing 3 different departments, 12 years with Green Energy Ohio and 20 years as owner operator of a farm/greenhouse business growing fresh produce.  With my management, budgeting, research and business experience I will continue to work as an effective leader to make changes in our township to promote the quality of our lives.

I have lived through a 164-home planned development being built right next door and understand first-hand the need for better landscape buffering and a need for higher zoning standards with enforcement of those standards.

Our township has many challenges and we can do better at managing growth.

New businesses can help offset the increased costs of supporting community services for residential areas.

We need to amend zoning to codify our recently updated Comprehensive Plan.

Let’s work to protect the Big Darby Creek watershed and natural resources while at the same time allowing for responsible new businesses and limited residential development to continue to improve the quality of our lives.

More landscape buffering and setbacks are needed along our roadways near employment areas to enhance rural viewscapes.

Buffering with berms and landscape plantings can help separate rural homes from businesses and higher density residential developments.

Supporting our first responders is critical to protecting public safety.

Strategic planning will help provide for effective management of our staff and equipment to continue to provide the highest levels of service.

As a long-time resident, I understand the importance of having a responsive local government and look forward to continue serving our community.

I have a vision and plans for a brighter, more sustainable future.

We can do better by working together.

Please take the time to make your voice heard and vote to re-elect me, Barry Adler, for another 4 years as your Jerome Township Trustee.

Thanks for your consideration

Sincerely,

Barry Adler
